FAQ
Who is invited?
Everyone. The birth of Jesus is good news to all people!
What about Covid-19 regulations?
As a worship service, this gathering is permitted under the state’s regulations. We ask that everyone wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart from people who are not in your household. You may also remain in your car the entire time if you prefer.
Why are you meeting in the Temple Emanu-El parking lot?
We wanted to offer an outdoor Christmas Eve service this year as safer option than meeting indoors but we don’t have the space to do it on our property in Old Town. The generous folks at Temple Emanu-el graciously offered their parking lot for us to use. They are the best!
What will happen when I arrive?
Parking attendants will ask you if you plan to stay in your car or enjoy the service outside. If you will be outside you will park your car and then walk to the other parking lot for the service. Feel free to bring a chair or to stand. Blankets are also welcome and possibly umbrellas.
How will I hear the service if I stay in my car?
The service will be broadcast over an FM signal Just like at a drive-in movie. Tune your radio to 89.1. Make sure your lights are off and your accessory power is turned on (turn your key forward one notch or push the start button without depressing the brake). Massachusetts law prohibits cars from idling for more than 5 minutes so you may want to bring a blanket.
How long will the service last?
50 to 60 minutes.
Can I see the service even if I can’t attend in person?
Yes! The service will be streamed on Youtube and Facebook.
What if it rains?
If it is a slight drizzle we will still have the service but if there is significant rain, the service will only be streamed. Cancellations will be posted on Facebook and our website as well as via email.
